Kenney Shields was the head coach of Northern Kentucky University's (NKU) men's basketball team from 1988 to 2004, leading the Norse to a 306–170 record, two NCAA Division II national championship game appearances (1996, 1997), and seven 20-win seasons. Before NKU, he coached high school basketball for 23 years, winning 261 games and five regional titles. Across his 39-year career, Shields amassed 766 wins. He’s a member of several halls of fame, including NKU’s and the GLVC’s, and remains active in the community through basketball camps and mentorship.
