Green Dot is a violence prevention initiative that empowers everyday people to recognize situations that could lead to violence and safely intervene before harm occurs. Rather than placing responsibility solely on victims or professionals, Green Dot encourages everyone to play a role in creating safer communities through simple, proactive actions known as "green dots."
The program focuses on preventing power-based personal violence, including sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking, and harassment, by promoting bystander intervention, fostering healthy community norms, and encouraging individuals to take action in ways that feel safe and appropriate for them.
One of Green Dot's goals is to create communities where violence is less likely to occur because people are prepared to recognize warning signs, support one another, and interrupt potentially harmful situations.
Every bar participating in the Green Dot Bar Crawl has completed Green Dot bystander intervention training, demonstrating a commitment to creating safer, more welcoming environments for patrons and staff. By participating in the crawl, attendees are supporting local businesses that have invested in violence prevention and are helping build a community where everyone can enjoy nightlife with greater confidence and safety.
