George Rogers Clark was honored due to his key role in early American history and his strong ties to the Ohio River Valley. A Revolutionary War hero, Clark led successful campaigns in the Northwest Territory, helped secure the region for the U.S., and founded Louisville. His influence greatly shaped the development of Kentucky and surrounding areas.
Situated along the Ohio River in the Historic Licking Riverside Neighborhood, this scenic park offers views of downtown Cincinnati and the Roebling Bridge and is a favorite for area photographers and sight-seers. The dense natural tree canopy provides a shaded respite to read a book, eat lunch on a bench, or watch boats travel down the Ohio River.
George Rogers Clark Park is also the venue for the annual Duveneck Art Festival hosted by Baker Hunt Art & Cultural Center and can accommodate small weddings of 20-30 people.
The park features two of the seven Riverwalk Statues (life-like bronze statues of historical figures located along Riverside Drive): Simon Kenton, an early explorer, and Captain Mary B. Greene, one of the few women to become a licensed river pilot and boat master.
