Set Out Guidelines:

Bulk Item Collection and Excessive Trash

Residents can dispose of one bulk item or three additional bags of trash each week. This applies to single-family homes and residential structures with four units or less.

A bulk item is any item that is too big to fit inside your cart, like furniture, appliances, mattresses, excessive bags, loose trash, or yard waste. (A mattress and box spring together are considered one item. So are a table and chairs.)

To prepare bulk items for pickup:

  • Mattresses and upholstered furniture must be wrapped in plastic.
  • Freon must be removed from appliances by a certified professional, with documentation attached to the appliance.
  • Loose shrubbery, sticks, and lumber must be tied in bundles no longer than 4 feet and no heavier than 50 pounds. Yard debris bags are also acceptable.
  • Carpet must be rolled and tied in bundles 4 feet long or less, or cut into small sections.
  • And additional trash bags must be secured and placed inside of a garbage can with a lid.

Residents are prohibited from setting out for bulk pickup:

  • Tires
  • Batteries.
  • Liquids.
  • Loose trash and debris.
  • Combustible and hazardous materials.
  • Rocks, dirt and construction debris.
  • Appliances still containing Freon.

Yard Waste

  • Yard waste can be placed in your City-issued brown cart for disposal. If you have more yard waste than what your cart holds, you can place up to three yard-debris bags or bundles out for pickup each week.
  • Loose shrubbery or tree limbs must be bundled and tied in lengths no larger/longer than 4 feet long and 2 feet wide. Bundles should not exceed 50 pounds.
