Boards & Commissions


The City of Covington has a number of boards and commissions on which city residents serve. Under Kentucky law, the Mayor appoints the members of these boards and commissions, subject to the approval of the City Commission. The various city boards and commissions, along with those citizens who serve on them, can be seen below.

  • The Audit Committee assists the Commission in fulfilling its corporate governance and oversight responsibilities relating to accounting and reporting practices.
  • Interviewing/recommending hiring of external auditors.
  • Review the scope of total audit activities with the external auditors. Review effectiveness of annual audit. Review management response. 
  • Review the final draft financial statements prior to its approval by City Commission.
  • Review and/or discuss the control environment established by management; effectiveness of risk assessment and management policies; review and advise on significant accounting policy changes and conflicts of interest and other sensitive matters.
  • Consider and review the audit scope and plan of the city’s Internal Auditor, and receive regular updates on internal audit activities.
  • Review internal audit results and findings, receiving regular updates on Internal Audit activities.
