COVINGTON, Ky. -- Note that offices at City Hall at 20 W. Pike St. will be closed Monday for the federal Labor Day holiday but will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

 

As we all know, Labor Day honors the American worker, was created by the labor movement in the late 19th century and became a federal holiday in 1894.

 

As we also all know, it’s come to be celebrated with cookouts, parades, general revelry, and – in Greater Cincinnati’s case – fireworks on the river.

 

To that note, one group of workers who DON’T get the day off are Covington’s police officers and firefighters.

 

So we ask that you be safe out there and in turn help keep them safe as they put in long hours this three-day weekend.
