International Women's Day in LoveTheCov

COVINGTON, Ky. -- The City of Covington celebrated International Women’s Day on Sunday by calling attention to the many women at the City who use their intellects, talent, skills, and expertise to make Covington a better place to live, work, and visit.

In this group photo taken last week, female employees from various departments are joined by Vice Mayor Michelle Williams and Commissioner Shannon Smith (both at center). The picture isn’t comprehensive: Because of vacations, shift schedules, meetings, and assignments, many faces are missing (including firefighters, police officers, and Public Works employees).

International Women's Day, celebrated on March 8 every year and observed since the early 1900s, is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.

This year’s theme was #EachforEqual, which is meant to promote gender-based equality in professional roles, media perception, politics, and more.
