VOLUNTEER WEEK: City Hall crew cleans up litter downtown

COVINGTON, Ky. -- As part of National Volunteer Week, a cleanup group from City Hall descended on Madison Avenue and Scott Boulevard on Monday, picking up litter and pulling weeds.

About a dozen City government workers changed clothes near the end of their shifts, put on gloves, grabbed trash bags, and went out into the beautiful weather.

The work - which was organized by the Solid Waste & Recycling Division - focused on Madison between Fourth and 11th streets and Scott between Seventh and 11th streets.

“Lots of cigarette butts,” reported the volunteers.
