Santa’s toy shop at City Hall benefits Biggs

City of Covington employees wrapped presents for 30 kids today.

COVINGTON, Ky. - The room where the Covington City Commission holds its weekly meetings became a satellite of Santa’s North Pole toy workshop today when City employees gathered - not to make toys and gifts - but to wrap the heck out of them.

The toys, clothes and gifts were donated as part of City Hall’s annual Christmas Toy Drive.

This year, employees bought, wrapped and delivered presents for 30 children at the James E. Biggs Early Childhood Center, along with a dozen or so coats. The preschool is located on Scott Boulevard a stone’s throw from the Company 1 Fire Station.

While the kids got gifts, the employees were rewarded as well with pancakes and the chance to build camaraderie and feel the spirit of the season, said Covington Human Resources Manager Stacey Hoeter.

“We host numerous events throughout the year in an effort to foster employee engagement, teamwork, and collaboration,” Hoeter said.

“The toy drive presented a unique opportunity for employees to give back to the community in which we work and love, along with a chance to work closely together as a team and step outside our daily work routine and have a little fun!” she said.
