It’s beginning to feel a lot like … fall

COVINGTON, Ky. - It's getting colder outside, obviously, so it's time in Covington to do some cool weather things.
 
Halloween parties, trail clearing, neighborhood cook-outs, painting pumpkins. Those things. And of course the weekly Covington Farmers Market is offering fall kinds of crops.
 
Of you could learn how to fuse glass to make a sun-catcher, or mount a black scorpion for display ...  
 
Meet your (Westside) neighbor
A four-hour festival event Saturday afternoon will celebrate the diversity in Covington's Westside neighborhood.
 
The "Meet Your Neighbor" event will give local families the chance to prepare and share food that represents their culture and to participate in activities that bring families together with themselves and others in the neighborhood.
 
It's sponsored by The Center for Great Neighborhoods.

Want to give your kids' costumes a trial run?
 
Latonia is holding its annual Halloween Block Party on Saturday afternoon from Ritte's Corner to Latonia Baptist Church.
 
Tried and true (i.e. fun) festivities: candy, bounce houses, pony rides, games, "mock" trick-or-treating, games etc. etc.

It's movie night Friday through Sunday at FIRE at RiverCenter.

Trail work at Devou
Are you tough? Do you love working outdoors? Is Devou Park precious to you?
 
Sunday morning, it's the monthly trail day, when volunteers gather to cut weeds, fix drainage issues and fill in holes on the park's backcountry trails. Hard work, but so worth it.

Have you ever wanted to pedal off road but were a little leery of what can be a contact sport (as in contact with the ground, if you're not careful)?

Fall vegetables, furry friends 
It's autumn, and Covington's Farmers Market these days is featuring cooler weather harvests: things like pumpkins, gourds, squash, greens, apples, radishes, beets and carrots. And of course there will be eggs and meats, soaps and lotions, prepared soups and salads, pastries, bread, and other baked goods, honey, and more.
 
This Saturday, the Farmers Market also will host Ame Vanorio from Fox Run Environmental Education Center, teaching about wild animal conservation with furry friends and reptilian rescues.

Fall Flock Market at Hotel Covington on Sunday will feature local brands from over a dozen vendors, and a portion of sales will benefit Artworks, Cincinnati.
