Covington swears in new police officer

New Covington Police Officer Michelle Fern poses with Chief Rob Nader and Mayor Joe Meyer after being sworn in and gaining her Covington badge today.

COVINGTON, Ky. - The City of Covington gained another police officer today, and once again the officer arrives with years of experience.

Michelle Fern, who has worked in law enforcement for 10 years at various agencies in Ohio, was sworn in by Mayor Joe Meyer today during a short ceremony in the Covington City Commission chambers.

Fern, who has associate’s degrees in applied science-criminal justice and applied business-paralegal from the University of Cincinnati, previously worked at UC Health and Oxford Township Police Departments, among other places.

“We are fortunate to have another experienced officer join our team and look forward to the positive work she will do,” said Covington Police Chief Rob Nader, who presented Fern with her badge this morning.

Fern will go directly to field training and be on the streets in a few months, the Chief said.
