Covington announces finalists for Business Excellence Awards

COVINGTON, Ky. - A record number of nominations has been whittled to 38 finalists in the 2018 Covington Business Excellence Recognition Program.

Today, the City of Covington announced the names of the finalists, which include 32 unique businesses competing in eight categories. (Some businesses are finalists in more than one category.)

All told, 137 nominations representing 87 unique businesses were sent to the City, said Suzann Gettys, awards program manager and a specialist in business retention & expansion for the City’s Economic Development Department.

“We were thrilled both by the high level of public participation and by the quality and diverse nature of the nominees themselves,” Gettys said. “The finalists represent businesses of all shapes and sizes offering all kinds of goods and services. They work hard to make our local economy and job market strong, and we’re honored to recognize and celebrate them.”

To narrow down the list, the City sent the nominations to a panel of local business association representatives, who ranked the nominees within each category.

The winners of the fourth-annual Business Recognition Program will be announced May 9 at the Madison Event Center. The event will take place 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
