City Seeks Applications for Housing Choice Voucher Inspector

The City is currently seeking a Part Time Housing Choice Voucher Inspector  to join the Department of Development.

  • Salary: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of this position is unit inspections; both interior and exterior. The Inspector is responsible for unit inspections and to make sure participants of the Housing Choice Voucher program live in safe, decent, and sanitary units. Employee also acts as liaison between the Housing Choice Voucher program, the participant and property owner.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE WORK
  • Inspector schedules visits for Housing Quality Standards (HQS) inspections on an annual basis, before transfers and new leases are executed, and when a complaint of suspected violations is reported;
  • Inspector conducts inspections of units, photographs unit violations if necessary and determines if property is in compliance;
  • Re-inspects property after repairs have been completed;
  • Is responsible for the following: HQS booklets, Certificate of Occupancy, creating and mailing letters to property owners and tenants, daily log sheets;
  • Performs all work assigned and coordinates workload with other Inspectors and Service Representatives;
  • Pull monthly renewal files, file HQS booklets for all inspectors, file letters (tenants and landlords), miscellaneous filing for Service Representatives as needed.
