Recreational Facilities
The Recreation Department works in conjunction with the Department of Public Improvements, the department that oversees the maintenance of the park facilities, to offer Covington residents a wonderful park system. Covington's park system consists mainly of neighborhood parks, with Devou Park and the Bill Cappel Sports Complex serving as regional parks.
Recreational facilities include playgrounds, tot lots, passive greenspaces, baseball/softball fields, soccer fields, football fields, outdoor basketball courts, public gardens, memorials, a bell tower, picnic shelters, nature trails, a waterpark, swimming pools, and hiking/biking trails. Total acreage of recreational facilities throughout the city is approximately 1,000 acres.

CITY POOLS AND THE WATERPARK
The City offers two swimming pools and a zero-depth waterpark:

In 2008, the Recreation Department instituted a system in which entry into the pools or waterpark required a pool pass. Passes are available to Covington residents only. To obtain a pass, adults must present proof of residency at the time of registration. Parents/guardians will be required to register all minor children. Passes are free of charge and can be obtained in the Recreation office and are good for one pool season. Requirements for passes:
-
Completed registration form
-
Proof of residency
-
Signed agreement acknowledging receipt of rules
-
Signed liability waiver
Lost passes can be reissued after payment of a $5.00 processing fee. Replacement passes can only be obtained through the Neighborhoods, Parks and Recreation Department at their offices in City Hall.
