The City of Covington has a number of boards and commissions on which city residents serve. Under Kentucky law, the Mayor appoints the members of these boards and commissions, subject to the approval of the City Commission. The various city boards and commissions, along with those citizens who serve on them, can be seen below.

Board of Commissioners

The Board of Commissioners is the City of Covington's governing board. It is comprised of a Mayor and four Commissioners. The Mayor holds a four-year term and Commissioners hold two-year terms. 

The City encourages you to provide elected officials with your comments about current issues in Covington. We value your attendance and participation at our commission meetings.

Meeting Times

The Board of Commissioners usually meets bi-monthly on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. Meetings are held at City Hall in the Commission Chambers. All meetings are televised by TBNK and able to be viewed live at home on Government Channels 15 and 16.

Want to Participate in a Meeting? Here's how:

The public has three main ways to address the Commission:

  1. To Give a Presentation at a Commission Meeting: Contact the City Clerk with your request at (859) 292-2314 or
  2. To Speak at a Commission Meeting: Arrive at the meeting and sign in on the table at the entrance. Your name will be called by the Mayor at the beginning of the meeting during the Public Comment portion. When your name is called, approach the podium, speak into the microphone and announce your name and address before your comment.
