Boards & Commissions

The City of Covington has a number of boards and commissions on which city residents serve. Under Kentucky law, the Mayor appoints the members of these boards and commissions, subject to the approval of the City Commission. The various city boards and commissions, along with those citizens who serve on them, can be seen below.

Board of Assessment Appeals

MISSION

  • The Kenton County Board of Assessment Appeals is a locally appointed three member panel that hears appeals property owners bring against the assessment placed on their property by the Kenton County Property Valuation Administrator

  • Learn the about the appeal process.

  • As the City with the largest assessment using county tax rolls, the Mayor of Covington nominates one member to this board for a 4 year term. A board member who has served for a full term is not eligible for reappointment (KRS 133.020). The appointee must be a reputable real estate property owner residing in Kenton County at least 5 years and have extensive knowledge of real estate values.

MEETINGS

  • ·         The board meets upon call of the county judge executive KRS 113.020 (3).
