Taxi Cab Stickers/ Occupational Licenses

Chapter 111 of the Covington Code of Ordinances governs all operations of taxi cabs in the City.

Instructions for Taxi Cab Companies for Stickers

Cab companies conducting business within the City of Covington must provide the City with the following:

  • A certified copy of the applicant’s Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity issued by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet that grants the applicant the authority from the State of Kentucky to provide taxicab services in the city
  • Proof of liability Insurance
  • A $40 fee for each sticker/cab

Once all this information has been provided, stickers are issued to the taxi company. It is the responsibility of the company to issue these to the drivers.

Instructions for Individual Taxi Cab Drivers for Occupational Licenses

All Taxi Cab Drivers in Covington must have a valid occupational license and sticker, which are renewable yearly. Each driver is personally responsible for securing an occupational license with the City. Drivers may receive stickers from their employers.

Cab drivers should submit their sticker number, a completed license application, and the $40 license fee to the Finance Department. After this is completed, drivers should go to the Covington Police Station on Tuesday or Friday between 1 and 3 p.m. to have an ID issued.
