Abandoned Vehicles - Public Property

Please use this service request to request the removal of vehicles on public property. Please note that some under some circumstances, including when vehicles have been reported stolen, specific legal processes may be required before removal is possible. If the vehicle is determined to be dangerous by the Police Department it may be immediately ticketed and towed.

Accident Report Copy

Please use this request to obtain a copy of an Accident Report. Only involved parties (Driver, Owner, Insurance company, Attorney for one of the involved parties) can receive copies of Accident Reports.

To receive a copy of an accident report, please visit the Covington Police Department between 12 and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. There is a fee of $5.

Animal Control - Dog Barking

All loud or unusual animal noises, especially during the hours of 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., should be reported to Kenton County Dispatch who will coordinator with law enforcement officers for investigation.

Bicycles - Abandoned

To report or recover abandoned bicycles please contact the Crime Lab at the Covington Police Dept. Abandoned bikes are those parked with rusted chains or missing parts. Once investigated, bicycles will be tagged and taken to the Police Department headquarters. The owner has 60 days to move or claim the bike before they are removed. To claim a confiscated bicycle please contact the Police Dept. Crime Lab.

Fingerprinting

Fingerprinting services are available for Covington residents and City of Covington employees. They are performed by appointment only. Available appointment times are from 1-2 p.m. on Tuesday or Friday.

Illegal Dumping

If you are actively observing illegal dumping, contact dispatch at 859-356-3191. Illegal dumping is a criminal offense that the City takes seriously. If possible and without risk to your safety, if you observe someone dumping, please try to record a license plate and vehicle and person description, as well as provide exact location details. 

If you observe solid waste that has been disposed of improperly or illegally please contact the Solid Waste Department.

Noise Complaint

Loud, unnecessary or unusual noise at any time of day or especially between the hours of 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. should be reported to Police dispatch.

Parking Ticket Appeal

Appeals of parking citations must be made within seven (7) days of issuance. To appeal a parking fine, please complete the form here and submit to the Covington Police Department. 

Completed forms and any attachments can be e-mailed to parkingappeals@covingtonky.gov or delivered in-person to: The Covington Police Department, One Police Memorial Drive, Covington, KY. 

Forms can be accepted during office hours, Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. (excluding holidays).

Attach your parking citation and any other documentation pertinent to your appeal to the appeal form. If you are sending your appeal form via e-mail, please scan and attach a copy of the citation to your appeal submission. You may also bring a copy of citation to your hearing. Failure to provide a copy of your citation before your hearing may delay or appeal hearing.

Upon successful delivery of an appeal form, a hearing date will be scheduled for no later than fourteen (14) days after appeal. Hearings are held every other Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Covington Police Department.You will be notified of the date of your hearing when you deliver your appeal form to the Covington Police Department. If you choose to deliver your appeal via e-mail, you will receive the hearing date via e-mail.Parking citation appeals are governed by City of Covington Code of Ordinances §§ 75.70-75.80.

IF YOU FAIL TO APPEAR AT YOUR SCHEDULED HEARING DATE, YOUR CITATION CANNOT BE VOIDED.

Police Report Request

You can receive a copy of a police report at the Covington Police Department between 12 and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. If you are listed as an involved party on the Incident Report you may obtain a copy of the report for free. All other parties must file an Open Records Request and will be charged $0.10 per page.
