Trash Collection - Large Items

A large item is any item that is too big to fit inside your cart such as furniture, appliances, or mattresses.

Residents can place up to 12 large items for curbside collection each year, at no additional cost. To avoid citations and/or fines, follow the procedures below:

  • Place one sticker on every large item set out for collection that is not contained in a cart.
  • Prepare large items for collection. For example, mattresses, box springs and upholstered furniture should be wrapped and sealed in plastic. If wrapped together, one mattress and one box spring are considered one large item. Freon should be properly removed from appliances.
  • Alert Rumpke 48-hours prior to the collection day of their intention of disposing of a large item.

Residents who require the collection of more than 12 large items per year should contact Rumpke at 1-877-786-7537. Additional fees will apply.
